PATNA: The JD(U) and BJP MLCs locked horns in the legislative council on the first day of the monsoon session on Monday.
Soon after council chairperson Devesh Chandra Thakur praised the state government’s efforts in different fields, especially in developing infrastructure at Darbhanga and Purnea airports, leader in the Upper House and state BJP president Samrat Chaudhary said the central government should also be appreciated for its monetary contributions to the two airports.
JD(U) minister Sanjay Jha talked about the monetary contribution of Bihar government. However, BJP MLC Sanjay Paswan said the state government was not doing any special favour and Jha said the same about the Centre. Thakur had to intervene. Paswan demanded discussion on the tussle between education minister Chandrashekhar and his department’s additional chief secretary KK Pathak.
Earlier, Thakur said CM Nitish Kumar’s efforts were appreciated by all for bringing back people of the state from the violence-hit Manipur and Sudan. He also mentioned the help extended by the Bihar government to Balasore train mishap victims from the state. “The CM’s vision of holistic development with justice is reflected in all the fields. Youths are being encouraged and inspired for government jobs and employment,” said Thakur while also mentioning the loans given for entrepreneurship.
The council chairperson, on behalf of the Upper House, congratulated IAS toppers Ishita Kishore and Garima Lohiya, along with Priyansh who has roots in Begusarai and won the gold in Under-21 world championship in compound archery in Ireland. Thakur said Priyansh had not only made people of Bihar proud, but also brought laurels to the country.
Thakur also talked about establishment of cyber police stations and efforts being made to construct civil enclaves in Purnea and Darbhanga. Other efforts of the state government which Thakur mentioned included Bihar biofuels production promotion policy, 2023 and Bihar Desi Gaupalan Protsahan Yojana.
