Patna: The sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections in state’s eight constituencies passed off peacefully on Saturday with a provisional voter turnout of 55.45%, a fall of 3.02% compared to the 2019 general elections, state’s chief electoral officer (CEO) H R Srinivasa said.

Paschim Champaran recorded the highest polling percentage of 59.75, followed by Vaishali 58.50, Valmikinagar 58.25, Purvi Champaran 57.30, Sheohar 56.30, Siwan 52.50, Maharajganj 51.27 and Gopalganj (SC) 50.70 till 6pm, the scheduled closing time for the polling. The total voter turnout in these five Lok Sabha seats in the 2019 general elections was 58.47%, the CEO said.


Around 61,800 security personnel and 20,800 home guards were deployed in the eight Lok Sabha seats for the smooth conduct of polls, ADGP Jitendra Singh Gangwar told TOI.
