Nitish launches several infra projects for Purnia
Patna: CM Nitish Kumar, during his visit to Purnia as part of the Pragati Yatra, announced a series of development initiatives for the district on Tuesday. Among the key announcements was the conversion of the existing Dhamdaha-Purnia state highway (SH)-65 into a four-lane road, which will be directly connected to the upcoming Purnia airport. The govt has also allocated an additional 52 acres of land for the airport's expansion.The CM also announced the construction of an interstate bus terminus at Purnia and the building of office complexes for 10 blocks and circle offices in the district. These include Amour, Kasba, Krityanand Nagar, Dhamdaha, Purnia, Banmankhi, Rupauli, Bayasi, Baisa and Badaharakothi.The announcements were made during the review of ongoing developmental activities at the newly constructed Mahananda Auditorium in the collectorate. The CM also unveiled a stone plaque marking the expansion of the auditorium.Among other ambitious projects, the CM revealed plans to construct a bypass road from Bhutaha Mor on NH-107 to SH-60. He also announced the development of a sports complex at Rangbhoomi Maidan in Purnia town in a bid to promote sports in the region. Nitish also granted state recognition to the annual fair at Ma Kamakhya Devi Mandir in Krityanand Nagar and revealed plans to renovate and beautify the Ma Puandevi Mandir campus. An approach road to the temple will also be constructed.The CM announced that Kajha Kothi on the Purnia-Dhamdaha state highway would be developed into a tourist spot. In response to the annual flooding, a new embankment will be constructed along the Kari-Kosi river for flood protection.The review meeting, which included a presentation by Purnia DM Kundan Kumar on completed and ongoing projects, also focused on improving urban infrastructure in Purnia and other towns. The CM highlighted several institutes, such as the medical college and hospital, engineering college, paramedical institute, industrial training institutes, polytechnic institutes and a hostel for students from extremely backward caste (EBC) groups."The central govt has also been providing immense assistance for developmental schemes," the CM said. "We have been with the BJP from the very beginning and former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee had made me the CM of the state. I continue to believe in work and do not discriminate against anyone," he added.The review meeting was attended by deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, ministers Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Leshi Singh, as well as local MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, MLAs Akhtarul Iman, Afaque Alam, Krishna Kumar Rishi, Vijay Kumar Khemka, Syed Rukanuddin and Shankar Singh. Senior officials, including chief secretary Amrit Lal Meena, DGP Vivek Kumar, CM's principal secretary S Siddharth and others also participated in the review.
