Nine Biharsharif policemen hurt in miscreants' attack in Sheikhpura village

BIHARSHARIF: At least nine policemen, including an SHO, sustained injuries after they were attacked by a group of miscreants in a Sheikhpura village Thursday night.

According to sources, the Korma police chased wanted criminal Dhaneshar Dhandi of Murarpur village after getting information that he, along with an accomplice, was on way to commit crime. Seeing police, he moved towards his house at Sadar Maidan under Sheikhpura Sadar police station area.

The sources said after police arrested him with a country-made pistol, a group of villagers attacked the policemen with stones in which Korma police station house officer Nitish Kumar, ASI Niranjan Kumar, two women and four men constables and driver sustained injuries.

They freed the criminal from police custody and fled before the reinforcement reached there from the nearby police stations.

Sheikhpura SP Kartikey Sharma said an FIR would be lodged against the miscreants after investigation.
