DARBHANGA: Mehre Alam of village Singhauli under Hayaghat police station (PS) in Darbhanga district, who appeared before NIA team on October 29 after getting notice in connection with the Patna serial blasts on October 27 and later allegedly fled from the custody of NIA team in Muzaffarpur leading to lodging of an FIR against him with Muzaffarpur Town PS on October 30 by the team, finally returned to his village on Friday.
According to NIA sources, Mehre had fled from the custody of the NIA team hence an FIR had to be lodged against him and since he had returned to his village, Muzaffarpur police would investigate his case of disappearance. NIA again requires his appearance for further investigation hence another notice would be issued to him, NIA sources added.
As news of Mehre's return spread, a large number of people and newspersons assembled at his house to know about his whereabouts during his absence from his house. His father Mahmood Alam told the visitors that his son was very disturbed and does not even eat properly hence he should not be left alone.
Mehre while appearing before NIA team was a bearded man but on return he was found clean shaved. On prodding by the people, Mehre said that NIA team took him to some places between Patna and Muzaffarpur. He was shown a photograph of a man and was informed that this man had to be arrested and his help was sought in this regard. Whatever information he had he gave it to the NIA team, he said. Mehre denied that he had fled from the custody of NIA and insisted that he left after seeking permission from a constable accompanying the team. Mehre alleged that his signature was obtained on some papers and he was even made to write something. Finally, he was told by the NIA team to return to his native village and he somehow managed to reach his village as he had no money. He even had to walk to reach his village.
