NEET student death case: CBI quizzes maternal uncle, hospital CMD
Patna: Following the summons issued by the CBI, the maternal uncle of the NEET student and CMD of a private hospital appeared at the investigative bureau’s office here on Saturday.
According to sources, around 10.30am the girl’s maternal uncle was interrogated at the CBI office, while Prabhat Memorial Hospital’s CMD Dr Satish was also quizzed for approximately half an hour. The CBI investigating officer asked the student’s maternal uncle approximately 25 questions in about one hour.
The NEET student was found unconscious at a hostel in the state capital on Jan 6 and later she died during treatment at a hospital on Jan 11. The CBI took over the investigation of the case on Feb 12, but no concrete results have emerged so far.
Meanwhile, the NEET student’s lawyer S K Pandey filed a complaint and compensation application in the Pocso court. The next date of hearing of the case is March 23.
Talking to reporters, Pandey alleged, “The case is not being investigated impartially. In the name of investigation, the girl’s family is being harassed. Pressure is being put on her family to accept that it was a suicide case.”
He said the fight for justice and truth will be fought to finish.
Pandey said, “Even though the CBI’s investigating officer has been changed, it appears whitewashing is being done in the name of probe. There is hope that the new investigating officer will work in the right direction.”
After becoming the CBI investigation officer (IO) on March 16, DSP Vibha Kumari reached the student’s home in Jehanabad along with her team on March 18. There, the family members and villagers protested against the visit by the CBI team.
They alleged that the CBI has already questioned them three-four times, but no results have come out yet. During questioning, the health of the student’s mother deteriorated and she fainted.
