NEW DELHI: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Saturday announced the names of 40 candidates for the

Lok Sabha elections in Bihar

, with BJP and JD(U) contesting on 17 seats each. Ram Vilas Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) has got six seats.



Among key announcements was Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad replacing actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha on Patna Sahib seat.



Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the decision to field him from Patna Sahib, Prasad said, "Even though I had been working on national level, I've an emotional connection with Patna. I'm grateful to the party, PM Modi, Amit Shah ji & others".



According to media reports, Sinha is likely to join the Congress and seek re-election on a ticket of the grand old party.

BJP in-charge for Bihar Bhupender Yadav who announced the candidates' name said, "Giriraj Singh, sitting MP from Nawada, will contest from Begusarai."

The National Democratic Alliance has fielded Lok Janshakti Party's Chandan Kumar from Nawada seat.

Lok Janshakti Party's Chirag Paswan will contest from Jamui.





While Ram Kripal Yadav will contest from Pataliputra, RK Singh from Arrah, Ashwini Kumar Choubey from Buxar, Radha Mohan Singh from East Champaran, Rajiv Pratap Rudy will fight from Saran.
