ML, RJD MLAs boycott Bhojpur foundation day function at Ara
ARA: The 45th foundation day of
Bhojpur district was carved out of erstwhile Shahabad district on November 10, 1972. Hundreds of residents, schoolchildren and many dignitaries gathered at the Veer Kunwar Singh stadium at Ramna Maidan here to celebrate the day and enjoyed the cultural programme organized here.
But the alleged delay on part of the state mines and geology minister cum district in charge minister Vinod Kumar Singh made the Ara RJD MLA Anwar Alam, Jagdispur RJD MLA Ram Vishnu Singh Lohiya and the CPI-ML’s Tarari MLA Sudama Prasad, so angry that they left the venue in a huff. They alleged that the state mines and geology minister had arrived in the district on previous night itself, yet he was late for the programme.
The minister, on his part said, the foundation day ceremony was a day of pride for all the residents of Bhojpur. Therefore, boycotting the foundation day ceremony is an insensitive act and politics should not be done at such officials events.
A ‘prabhat pheri’ was taken out in the morning which moved through the main thoroughfares of the town in which thousands of schoolchildren participated. Various departments and organizations put up colorful stalls at the venue and the minister inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Different kind of sports, quiz, painting competition etc were also organized on the occasion.
