Sitamarhi: Union power, new and renewable energy minister Raj Kumar Singh on Thursday dedicated to the nation Sitamarhi substation of 400/220/132kV capacity at Dumra aerodrome field here. The substation has been constructed at an expenditure of Rs 644 crore at Parmanandpur village under Dumra block in three years.“With the commissioning of this unit, Sitamarhi is now connected with Darbhanga and East Champaran grids. Now, uninterrupted power transmission is a reality in north Bihar, especially in Sitamarhi district,” the minister said.He added, “Gone are the days when India was being considered an electricity-hungry country. We now have surplus power. In fact, India is now in a position to sell power to neighbouring countries. Electricity is available in every village in India. The world is fascinated to observe our quantum jump in conventional and non-conventional energy.”State energy minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav said there are seven grids in north Bihar. “All seven grids are connected with each other. This will immensely benefit this region as it faces natural calamities, like annual floods and cyclones.
We want to thank central government for looking after the requirements of Bihar.”Bihar legislative council deputy leader Devesh Chandra Thakur, Sitamarhi MP Sunil Kumar Pintu, MLA Mithilesh Kumar, MLC Rekha Kumari, former minister Ranju Geeta, senior power grid officials, DM Sunil Kumar Yadav and SP Har Kishore Rai also spoke on the occasion.
