Knife attack at boy in Sipara sparks outrage

Patna: A knife attack on a minor boy after he resisted a mobile phone snatching attempt has sparked outrage in Patna after a video of the incident surfaced on Sunday. The assault took place on May 13 under Phulwarisharif police station area near the Sipara overbridge.According to police, a minor boy and his ‘girlfriend’ were eating momos at a roadside stall when a youth allegedly attempted to snatch the boy’s mobile phone. When they resisted, the accused attacked the boy with a knife.The victim sustained stab injuries on his hand and scratches on his stomach and was admitted to a nearby private nursing home for treatment.The viral video, recorded near the auto stand close to Sipara overbridge, shows the accused openly brandishing a knife and attacking the couple.The injured boy is seen trying to defend himself and snatch the weapon, while his ‘girlfriend’ attempts to stop the attacker. Despite the presence of several bystanders, no one intervened during the assault.SDPO-I, Phulwarisharif, Sushil Kumar, said police verified the incident after the video went viral on Sunday.“The incident took place on May 13. In this regard, a case was registered at Beur police station on May 14. The video was also verified by the victim’s brother, who confirmed that it was the same incident involving his brother,” he said.Police said the accused, identified as Saurabh, a resident of Jakkanpur, has been identified and raids are being conducted to arrest him.
