It’s ‘encounter raj’ in state now, alleges Dipankar

Patna: CPI(ML) general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya on Saturday alleged the NDA govt in Bihar had replaced the “good governance” model of former CM Nitish Kumar with “bulldozer justice and encounter raj”.

Talking to reporters after the party’s three-day state conference in Darbhanga held from May 16 to May 18, Dipankar said, “In Bihar, what is in practice is bulldozer and encounter, displacement in place of development, and prevalence of hate, mob lynching and politics of violence in place of social harmony.”

He alleged repressive actions against Dalits, poor people, minorities, women and students were becoming “a new normal” in the state. “The bulldozer has by now been transformed into a symbol of the BJP rule,” he said, adding the “rule of law was being ignored and set aside”.

Referring to the national situation, Dipankar said students and youths were facing growing frustration due to unemployment and repeated examination paper leaks, including the NEET controversy.

“The country has been witnessing a robust anger of the students and youths who constitute Gen-Z,” he said.

He also criticised the use of terms such as “cockroaches” and “parasites” for unemployed youths, saying such remarks hurt their “identity, honour and dignity”.

“An accountability should be fixed for those who have been destroying the educational system,” he added.
