‘Har ghar jhanda’ campaign to be launched by Congress
Patna: Congress on Friday announced to launch the "Har Ghar Congress Ka Jhanda" campaign to increase its visibility across the state ahead of the assembly elections, while asserting that the INDIA bloc is intact in the state.Addressing a press conference, newly appointed party's state president, Rajesh Kumar, said the party would soon launch this campaign in the state. "The party workers will fan out in every village and will request the people to put party flag atop their houses," Kumar told reporters on Friday. He accused the BJP of practising "untouchability" of a different kind, blaming the party for an incident in Saharsa district where a temple was reportedly washed with ‘Ganga jal' shortly after prayers were offered by Congress neta and NSUI national in charge, Kanhaiya Kumar, who is on a statewide padyatra. "The BJP wants to take the nation back to the era prior to Independence. Earlier, only dalits were discriminated against. Now, even Lord Parshuram's descendant is not being spared," he said, referring to Kanhaiya, who comes from the upper caste Bhumihar.Further, he flayed the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, alleging that it is an attempt to hit the country's "secular fabric". Speaking on this occasion, CLP leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan lambasted the Narendra Modi govt for bringing the Waqf bill "unnecessarily" and asked the NDA partners such as CM Nitish Kumar and Union ministers Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi to give up their "ambiguity" on the issue. "Instead of speaking in vague language, Nitish Ji, Manjhi, and Chirag must be clear about their stand on this bill," Khan said.Meanwhile, a dalit worker, Vinod Kumar Chaudhary, along with his supporters, joined the Congress in the presence of the party's Bihar in charge Krishna Allavaru and the state president. Chaudhary had earlier organised the birth anniversary event for late Jaglal Chaudhary, a former minister and freedom fighter, which was attended by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
