‘Fir se aa rahi hai sushan ki sarkar’: JDU predicts win in Bihar elections; aims for 200-plus seats
PATNA: The Janata Dal (United) expressed confidence in their victory ahead of vote counting across 243 assembly constituencies in Bihar, with exit polls predicting the return of the Nitish Kumar-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.
The counting begins along with bypolls in eight assembly segments across six states and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
JD(U) shared a message on social media platform X stating, "Just a few hours to wait, the government of good governance is returning once again (Bus kuch ghanto ka intejaar, fir se aa rahi hai sushan ki sarkar)."
Bihar Minister Hari Sahni expressed optimism about the results, saying, "Today the results will be a reflection of the good governance of the NDA government...The results will be in favour of the NDA government and we will secure more seats than expected."
BJP candidate from Bankipur and Bihar Minister Nitin Nabin stated, "We are all confident that this time, the NDA seat tally will be near that of the 2010 elections. NDA is going to form the Government...We will get 200 plus seats. They (RJD) are still not able to let go of their mindset of 'jungle raj'. RJD is the symbol of 'jungle raj'."
The Bihar Assembly Election was conducted in two phases on November 6 and November 11, marking the first assembly election in the country in two decades following a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls.
In the 2010 elections, the Nitish Kumar-led alliance with BJP secured 203 seats, with JD(U) winning 115 seats and BJP winning 91 seats. The current alliance arrangement has both JD(U) and BJP contesting 101 seats each, with remaining seats distributed to alliance partners.
The exit polls predict minimal impact from Prashant Kishor-led Jan Suraaj, which made its electoral debut in these assembly polls.
People's Pulse poll survey forecasts 133-159 seats for NDA, 75-101 seats for Mahagathbandhan, and 0-5 seats for Jan Suraaj. Other parties are expected to secure 2-8 seats.
The state has recorded significant voter turnout in these assembly polls, with results expected to be declared by evening on the same day of counting.
