Patna: Union agriculture minister Radha

"With the help of advanced technology, the government is making efforts to ensure quick disbursal of funds to farmers and collect data so they don't need to wait for long," said Singh at the state-level cooperative meet organized at S K Memorial Hall here.
"About Rs 240 crore had been given to
Bihar government for the development of cooperative societies. The societies run by women must be encouraged and government is making efforts for it," he added.
Singh also said the Centre would provide insurance cover to farmers to help them cope with crop loss due to natural calamities.
Deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, RJD chief Lalu Prasad, state animal husbandry minister Avadhesh Kumar Singh, Rajya Sabha MP and Krishi Bharti Cooperative president Chandrapal Singh and its managing director Vasundhara Mishra were among those present at the meet. State cooperative minister Alok Kumar Mehta said the government would now directly transfer money into the accounts of farmers to weed out middlemen and touts. "Around Rs 181 crore of subsidy, meant for cooperative societies under the Brijnathan committee guidelines, is still pending with Union government.
