PATNA/GAYA: Buddhist spiritual leader the Dalai Lama on Friday held a special prayer at CM Nitish Kumar’s official residence here for peace, happiness and prosperity in the state, country and the world as well.

The CM also participated in the special prayer. Patna-based Buddha Smriti Park’s priest Revta Bhikhu Bhante assisted the Dalai Lama in the special prayer near the small Bodhi tree, which was planted there on November 18, 2011. Prominent persons who were present during the prayer included Bihar assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Choudhary, state legislative council’s acting chairman Haroon Rashid, Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, building construction minister Ashok Choudhary, JD(U) MLC Sanjay Kumar Singh alias Gandhi Ji and state’s chief secretary Deepak Kumar.

Earlier, Nitish accorded warm welcome to the exiled Tibetan leader and presented him a bouquet, traditional ‘angavastram’ and an idol of Lord Buddha. The Dalai Lama gave his blessings to the CM by presenting him a memento and ‘Khada’, a traditional ceremonial scarf used in Tibet.

The Dalai Lama reached here from Bodh Gaya after his three weeks’ sojourn. He left Bodh Gaya by a special plane to the state capital where he will stay for two days before leaving for Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh. He had come to Bodh Gaya on December 24, 2019. in the forenoon.
