SSP Alok Kumar on Sunday said that five youths have been arrested in this connection. They have been identified as Vaibhav Vishal, a Class X student of DAV, BSEB, Shastrinagar, Ravi Kumar, a 10+2 student of LBS School, Raju Kumar alias Aditya (an Intermediate student), Amit Kumar, a washerman, who ironed clothes at Arya Apartment, and Rajesh Kumar Yadav, a betel shop owner at Sahdeo Path and native of Bishariya village under Ladnia police station in Madhubani district.
The SSP said that soon after the incident, a police team led by Shachivalaya ASP Satyveer Singh was constituted. He said that during investigation, the police team came to know that the criminals had on May 9 and 10 drawn Rs 48,000 cash with the help of ATM cards looted from Nilu`s residence. The police team interrogated several persons of shady characters and arrested main accused Vishal and Ravi, he added.
Alok said that during interrogation both the arrested youths admitted that they had carried out the crime with the help of Amit and Aditya. The police team carried out raids and recovered looted jewellery, silver utensils, Rs 72,000 cash, camera, cellphones and ATM cards, he said.
The SSP said that the arrested youths revealed that they handed over some looted valuables to Yadav to sell them. Yadav after his arrest told the police that he had kept the valuables at his native village. A police team reached there and recovered the looted valuables, he added.
