Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Saturday asked the officials of Vaishali district to make highlight the Student Credit Card scheme so that more students take its benefits. State government provides Rs4 lakh loan per student under the scheme for pursuing higher education.
Chairing a meeting to review the progress under different development schemes in Vaishali district as part of his Samadhan Yatra, the CM also asked the officials to motivate girls for higher education by taking the benefit of the scheme.
He further asked them to expedite work of installing solar power plates on all the state government buildings across the district. “Solar streetlights are being installed in all villages. Take necessary steps to motivate villagers for installing solar plates on their rooftops,” the CM said.
He asked Vaishali DM Yashpal Meena to take disciplinary action against all those teachers who do not take interest in taking classes in the rural schools. He asked the education department officials to pay special attention to timely payment of different types of incentives to schoolchildren.
Nitish also asked the DM to ensure necessary anti-erosion works on the bank of rivers to protect people from floods.
Earlier, the Vaishali DM made a detailed representation before the CM about the progress made in different development schemes.
The people’s representatives attending the meeting also raised problems of their areas and urged the CM to do the needful. The CM asked the officials to take immediate steps for solving those problems.
Bihar Vidhan Parishad chairman Devesh Chandra Thakur, deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, finance minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary and several other cabinet ministers were present at the review meeting.
