Buxar cricket body plans district leagues
Buxar: The annual general meeting (AGM) of the Buxar District Cricket Association (BDCA) was held here on Friday, focusing on promoting budding cricketers and administrative reforms in the district. The association unanimously expressed gratitude to CM Nitish Kumar for honouring Buxar native Anu Kumari, a member of the T20 Women’s World Cup-winning team.
Presided over by BDCA president Varsha Pandey, the meeting discussed key measures aimed at reorganising cricket activities, improving the administrative framework and promoting emerging talent across the district.
It was resolved that all affiliated clubs must re-register for the 2025-26 season. New clubs will also be allowed to register within the stipulated period. Registration forms will be available at the secretary’s residential office at Rambagh, PP Road, Buxar, from Feb 7 to 10 between 2pm and 5pm. Completed forms must be submitted by Feb 12, said an official.
The association also announced that district-level league competitions will be organised from the second half of Feb in Under-16, Under-19, Under-23 and senior categories. Player selection will be strictly performance-based, and shortlisted players will be forwarded to the Bihar Cricket Association.
Addressing the meeting, Pandey said the association is committed to ensuring transparency, equal opportunity and merit-based growth for every cricketer. Secretary Anand Kumar Singh urged clubs and players to work together to give Buxar cricket a strong identity at the state-level.
