PATNA: The opposition BJP MLCs on Wednesday alleged rise in crime graph in the state and demanded discussion on it in the legislative council. Later, during zero hour, they once again came up with the same matter and entered the well raising slogans against chief minister Nitish Kumar.

Council chairperson Devesh Chandra Thakur adjourned the House following ruckus and commotion.

As soon as the House assembled, BJP MLC Anil Kumar said the crime graph in the state was rising and Bihar had entered into the phase of ‘mahajungle raj’. Another BJP MLC Devesh Kumar said the deteriorating law and order situation was the most important issue and needed discussion on priority. Devesh then cited the example of deadly clash between two groups in Jethuli on the outskirts of Patna nearly ten days back over a vehicle parking issue, in which at least four people died. Leader of the opposition Samrat Chaudhary said in rural areas of Patna and other parts of Bihar, the crime graph was going upwards.

The chairperson, however, assured them that the matter will be discussed later on and then only the House started functioning. However, after the question hour, opposition legislators once again stood at their place demanding discussion over law and order in the state.JD(U) MLC Neeraj Kumar said the matter could be taken up during the debate of home department.

But the opposition MLCs entered the well shouting slogans against CM Nitish, which irked the chairperson. “You are saying ‘murdabad’ for the same person whom you wished long life on his birthday today. Such things are against our culture,” said Thakur, who then adjourned the House till 2:30 pm.
