PATNA: State BJP president Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal on Thursday nominated new presidents in the party’s 45 districts, revamping the organisational set up around a year before the 2024 parliamentary elections.

“We believe that in your leadership, our organisation will become stronger and more effective,” Jaiswal wrote in his letter addressed to the 45 new district presidents.

The revamp of the district units was on the cards as a high-level party meeting held in January had discussed the matter and expressed the need for the much-awaited overhaul.

The BJP’s victory in byelection held for Gopalganj and Kurhani assembly seats and increase in its vote share in the Mokama assembly constituency in the bypoll also goaded the party leadership to change organisational presidents at the district level, they added. In tune with the local demand, Dharmendra Kumar has been made president of Patna (rural), Arun Kumar (Barh), Abhishek Kumar (Patna Mahanagar), Sandeep Giri alias Mantu Giri (Gopalganj) and Ranjan Kumar (Muzaffarpur).

Among others, Prem Prakash Pintu has been made district chief of Gaya, Santosh Sah of Bhagalpur, Rupak Srivastava of Bettiah, Rajiv Kumar Varma of Begusarai, Vijay Kumar Singh alias Bhola Singh of Buxar, and Ranjit Singh of Chhapra. In the crucial Seemanchal region, Manoj Rai has been made district chief of Katihar, Aditya Narayan Jha of Araria, Rakesh Kumar of Purnia and Sushant Gope of Kishanganj.
