PATNA: A 28-year-old SSB jawan shot himself dead using his service rifle at Birpur in Supaul on Friday morning. The deceased, identified as Chimala Vishnu, was married only about eight months back. He belonged to Khammam district in Telangana.

Supaul SP Amarkesh said he had shot himself below his chin and the bullet pierced through his head. "It is a suicide case. Prima facie there seems to be personal reason," he said.

Birpur SDPO Pankaj Kumar Mishra said Vishnu was posted at the 35th battalion of SSB in the border area at Fatehpur in Supaul two months back. Earlier, he was deputed at 65th battalion in Assam.

"A small diary was recovered. It shows that he used to invest in share market and had taken loans from several of his colleagues in Assam and in Bihar," said Mishra.
