PATNA: Huge rush of passengers was witnessed at Patna Junction and other major stations under the Danapur division on Friday as people were returning to their workplaces to resume duty on Monday.

According to East Central Railway (ECR) chief public relations officer Birendra Kumar, railways is running 48 special trains to cope up with the post-Holi rush.

These trains are scheduled to run weekly, biweekly and triweekly from different stations under the ECR till March 25 to facilitate passengers' return to their respective workplaces in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Chennai, Secunderabad, Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Howrah and other places, he said.

Besides, railways ran one-way special train (04076) between Anand Vihar and Kamakhya via Patliputra Junction-Barauni-Katihar on March 10 (Friday) from Anand Vihar to reach Kamakhya on Sunday at 5.20 pm, he said, adding the Chandigarh-Kamkahya one-way special (04546) will leave Chandigarh on March 11 (Saturday) at 6.55pm and reach Kamakhaya on Monday 5.20pm via Danapur-Patliputra Junction-Barauni-Katihar route.

According to Danapur RPF senior commandant Prakash Kumar Panda, three companies of the Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) have been deployed at all major stations to deal with the post-Holi passengers' rush. RPF teams are escorting all long-distance trains in the night.
