Patna: One Satyendra Kumar (31), resident of Shahpur, was arrested by Rupaspur police for allegedly molesting a polytechnic student at a hotel in the Calicut area of Danapur in Patna district on Saturday night. He was taken into custody after the victim’s father lodged a written complaint.
City SP (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh said, “On May 23, a written complaint was received at Rupaspur police station by the complainant, Santosh Kumar from Begusarai district. In the complaint, he stated that he came to Danapur with his daughter to appear in the polytechnic examination. They were staying at a hotel under the Rupaspur police station area. In the middle of the night, a drunk person entered their room and molested his daughter.”
The complainant immediately informed the police through Dial 112. Police reached the spot promptly and arrested the accused. Police registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bihar Excise Act, POCSO Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
“Satyendra has been arrested, while another co-accused named in the complaint is absconding. Police have formed a separate team to nab the remaining accused. The police will also question the hotel owner regarding serious lapses in security, particularly why the CCTV cameras were not operational at the time of the incident,” the SP said, and further informed that a comprehensive security audit of all hotels in the area will be conducted to ensure compliance with security guidelines.
