PATNA: The state government on Monday admitted in legislative council that 289 officials lost their jobs due to irregularities in implementing MNREGA schemes besides lodging FIRs against 316 and serving show-cause notices on over 5,100 workers in this connection.
Replying to a question of RJD's Mishri Lal Yadav, tourism minister Sunil Kumar Pintu said a deputy collector rank officer reviews the MNREGA project in the districts every Wednesday.
Action has been taken against the guilty MNREGA workers after inquiry. The payment under MNREGA is made through the joint signature of the mukhiya and panchayat rojgar sevak.
As per the MNREGA guidelines, workers get the payment within 15 days of the work. In some cases, payment has been delayed due to scarcity of panchayat rojgar sevaks and delay in clearance through post office, the minister admitted.
