The two-hour entrance test will be conducted at 24 different centres — 18 in Patna and six in

Muzaffarpur

— on Sunday.

According to NOU registrar and

BEd entrance test

nodal officer S P Sinha elaborate security arrangements have been made in order to hold the exam in a peaceful and fair manner.

“There are altogether 400 seats, 100 each in Basundhara Teachers’ Training College-Muzaffarpur, Mata Sita Sunder College of Education-Sitamarhi, Shaheed Pramod

BEd

College-Muzaffarpur and Baidyanath Shukla College of Education-Vaishali. The four colleges, which impart integrated BA-BEd and BSc-BEd courses, are affiliated to Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University,” Sinha told this newspaper on Thursday

The four-year BA-BEd and BSc-BEd courses will be open to students, who have passed their Class XII examinations. “This programme will save one year as students will be able to complete the course in just four years, instead of five,” said Sinha.

Uniform ordinance and regulations of the four-year BEd course were assented to by the chancellor recently on the recommendation of a three-member committee, which comprised NOU former vice-chancellor Rabindra Kumar Sinha, Munger University VC Ranjit Kumar Verma and his Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University counterpart A K Roy. The body was constituted following Union human resource development ministry’s decision to introduce a four-year integrated BEd course in universities from the current academic session.

Few years ago, the government had asked the degree colleges in the state to introduce BEd course along with general undergraduate courses, but almost none of them had responded to the directive then. “With the revised regulations of the National Council for Teacher Education and the National Council of Educational Research and Training and the provisions of the New Education Policy, all training colleges along with general degree colleges are expected to introduce the four-year integrated BA-BEd and BSc-BEd courses,” said the principal of a training college.

Admission date extended till September 30: The deadline for admission to various courses in both Nalanda Open University as well as Directorate of Distance Education of

Patna University

in the current academic session has been extended by a month on the permission of the Distance Education Bureau of the University Grants Commission. Now, both the institutions can admit students till September 30. Earlier, the last date for admissions was August 31.

“Nearly 20,000 students have already been admitted to NOU. The total enrolment is likely to cross 25,000 this year,” NOU registrar S P Sinha said.
