The Micro ATM to reach your door step
Noida: Taking a micro step towards resolving cash crunch, PNB on Wednesday started issuing money to the people through Micro ATMs. The bank officials equipped with the handy ATMs stationed them outside the DM’s office in Sector 27 and issued money to around 40 persons using their debit cards.
The Micro ATMs enable people to withdraw money from their accounts against swiping of their debit cards, do the funds transfer, and obtain printouts of balance enquiries and mini-statements. However, due to a severe cash crunch, the bank is offering only withdrawal of money using the machine.
Micro ATMs are modified point of sales terminals (card swipe machine) through which the bank remotely connect to the bank's core banking system using his debit card.

The micro ATMs are an extension of the branch network, but they work slightly different from a normal ATM. In this ATM, a user has to swipe his debit card and enter the PIN number. The money will be deducted from the person’s account and debited to the bank. The bank officials then give cash to the account holder on the spot.
These machines are typically used by agents who represent banks in rural areas to connect customers. However, these ATMs are in much demand in the city since the government introduced demonetization on November 8.
Bansal said that there are 10 Micro ATMs with the bank in Noida and they are functioning at different locations based on the needs. The officials keep cash of around Rs 2-3 lakh with each Micro ATMs. They also provide the services to some corporate houses and media houses.
N P Singh, the district magistrate, said that the Micro ATM facilitates working of officials who need to be on duty entire day. “We have asked the PNB Bank and SBI to serve the people through Micro ATMs. They have started their services. It is of great help. We will talk to other bank managers to see if they can also extend their services,” he said.
