NOIDA: In the past three months, only four cases of

dengue

have been reported from Noida hospitals, officials in the

health department

have said. Three private

hospitals

have, however, said at least 70 cases have been reported this season.

Of the four cases mentioned by the health department, three are from Gautam Budh Nagar while one is from Ghaziabad. The department had, however, tested 104 samples from private hospitals and the district hospital. Interestingly though, the number of dengue cases reported at the super-speciality paediatric hospital and post-graduate paediatric institute (SSPHPGTI) in Sector 30, will be “reported separately,” the department said.

District malaria officer Rajesh Sharma said the report of the four dengue cases would be shared with the government separately. However, as many as three private hospitals — Jaypee, Kailash and Metro — which conduct

Eliza tests

, have said they have reported around 70 cases this season. While Jaypee hospital in Sector 128 has reported 25 dengue cases so far, the number is the same at Kailash hospital in Sector 27. At the Metro hospital in Sector 12, the number of dengue patients was 17 as of Wednesday evening.

“Our cases have been registered with the health department,” said a spokesperson for Metro hospital. A spokesperson for Jaypee said they had conducted both rapid card and Eliza tests. Dr Sarika Chandra of Kailash hospital said they were regularly sharing the cases with the health department, adding that only the health department is authorised to declare the confirmed cases.
