NAVI MUMBAI: The Panvel City police identified the boy whose body was found stuffed inside a

plastic bag

on the side of the road in Panvel taluka on Monday morning. Senior inspector Ajay Landge said Suraj Upendra Sahi alias Monu, was seven years old and had lived in Panvel.


The police are keeping other details of the case under wraps as they said that revealing the same would hamper the investigation into the boy’s death. Landge added that the postmortem report stated that the cause of death strangulation, and that he also had a head injury. “Some slum dwellers identified the victim after Panvel city police visited a slum pocket near the Panvel railway station with a photograph of the boy,” said sources.

On Monday around 11am, the boy’s body was found by locals near Kundewahal village, along the Uran-Palapse Road.
