Nashik: Three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Bapu Gadhave (60) of Chincholi Ramzan in Karjat, Ahilyanagar district, who was missing since early Jan. The Ahilyanagar police also cracked another murder case registered in the Akola district during the course of investigation.The arrested were identified as Gadhve's son Akash Gadhave, Akash's wife — Payal, and his brother-in-law — Sunil Rathod. Police said two more people involved in the murder are on the run.Police inspector Kiran Kabadi of the Ahilyanagar police's local crime branch said Akash had registered a complaint about his missing father on March 5. During the investigation, police grew suspicious and began to question him. However, Akash told the police that he suspected Rathod was involved in his father's disappearance.Subsequently, police tracked Rathod (37) to Shegaon and arrested him on Friday. He confessed to murdering Gadhave. He said the crime was planned among Akash, Payal, two others and him. Akash wanted to sell their farmland, but his father was not allowing it. As a result, on Jan 4, the five smothered Gadhave to death with a pillow. Later, they burned and disposed of the body.Kabadi said that during custodial interrogation, Rathod confessed to killing a woman named Sheetal Limbaji Songewad of Parbhani. Rathod said he was in a relationship with Songewad, who had threatened to file a police complaint against him. He murdered her on Nov 16, last year, and partially burnt the body in Balapur, Akola.Police confirmed that a murder case regarding Songewad was registered at the Balapur police station in Akola.
