Nashik: Shiv Sena's group leader in the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) house, Ajay Boraste, wroye to municipal commissioner Manisha Khatri seeking information on the widespread road-digging works being carried out across the city.
The letter, issued on behalf of the Eknath Shinde-led faction of the party, highlighted concerns over the lack of coordination among various agencies executing simultaneous infrastructure and pipeline projects.
Boraste stated that multiple roads across Nashik city are being excavated for ongoing works. These are being undertaken by the Smart City Corporation, Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited, Amrut Yojana, projects, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd, and other utility-related departments.
The letter added that agencies appear to be working in silos, leading to repeated digging at the same locations and continuous inconvenience to residents.
The letter stated that unplanned excavation has triggered several civic issues, including frequent water pipeline bursts, wastage of drinking water, disruptions in supply, sewage leakages, foul odour complaints, and incidents of gas pipeline damage and gas leakage.
Shiv Sena has sought a series of clarifications from the NMC administration, including institution-wise and location-wise permissions granted for road-digging works; details of departments or agencies whose entries have been officially recorded by the corporation; and the compensation fees collected by NMC from various institutions for excavation activity, sorted by agency and site. Boraste concluded the letter by urging the NMC commissioner to provide all requested information at the earliest, citing the need to prevent further inconvenience to citizens and ensure accountability among agencies involved in road-digging work.
