Nashik: A 21-year-old college student was killed and four others were seriously injured when the car they were travelling in skidded off the road on a small bridge over a nullah and fell into the nullah on Tuesday evening.
The deceased student has been identified as Sarthak Rahane, a resident of Jadhav Sankul, Ashok Nagar, Satpur.
The Nashik Taluka police said, "The four injured youths are taking treatment at private hospitals in the city."
The police registered a case of accidental death. According to the police, the victims, most of them college students, went to the Kashyapi Dam at Girnare village.
After enjoying themselves in the dam area, the students were on their way back home from Girnare to Satpur.
Inspector Mrudula Naik of the Nashik Taluka police station told TOI, "The accident took place at 5 pm. Rahane was driving the car and he apparently lost control of the vehicle while driving past a small bridge over a nullah."
The car rammed into the protective wall of the bridge and then fell into the nullah. Soon after the car fell, local residents rushed to the spot and called an ambulance. The injured people were rushed to different hospitals.
Naik added that they are yet to take the statements of the injured youngsters.
