Nashik civic body’s property tax kitty swells 10% to 287cr
Nashik: The local civic body has recorded a 10% increase in property tax collection during the financial year 2025–26, with revenue touching a record Rs287 crore, compared to Rs 257 crore collected in 2024–25.This is the highest-ever property tax collection that the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has collected since its establishment over four decades ago.Civic officials attributed the surge in revenue to a combination of amnesty schemes, rebates for prompt taxpayers and a steady increase in the number of registered properties in the city.Among 6 divisions, Cidco division topped the list, garnering Rs59 crore in property tax, followed closely by Panchavati division, which contributed Rs58 crore. These two divisions collectively accounted for nearly 42% of the total property tax revenue collected by the NMC in the last financial year.According to NMC officials, a major boost to revenue came from the amnesty scheme introduced between Sept 1 and Dec 31, 2025. This enabled the corporation to collect around Rs55 crore in pending property tax dues. Encouraged by the response, the civic body reintroduced the amnesty scheme for a limited 15-day period from Feb 23 to March 9, specifically targeting long-pending tax defaulters. During this period, over 13,000 property owners cleared dues amounting to Rs45 crore. In addition to the amnesty schemes, the civic body also offered rebates to timely taxpayers. An 8% rebate was provided to property owners who paid their annual tax bills in a single instalment during April and May of the financial year 2025–26. A 6% rebate was extended to those who cleared their dues in June. These incentives further contributed to the rise in collections, officials added.Nashik city currently has 6.22 lakh registered properties spread across six municipal divisions. Panchavati and Cidco divisions together account for nearly 48% of the total properties. The Cidco division has witnessed rapid expansion, registering a 54% increase in the number of properties, which rose from 97,517 in 2017–18 to around 1.49 lakh in 2025–26.
