Maha’s law and order in shambles: Chennithala
Nashik: All India Congress Committee in-charge for Maharashtra Ramesh Chennithala on Friday said the law and order situation in the state is in complete shambles.Chennithala, while speaking to the reporters, said women and children are unsafe in Maharashtra which is a progressive state in the country. “The sexual abuse of two minor girls in Badlapur shows the kind of law and order that is prevailing in the state. What was more saddening was that there was an inordinate delay on the part of the local police to lodge the FIR in that case. We apprehend that state govt wanted to cover up the incident,” he said, adding that people in the state are upset with the Mahayuti govt.Chennithala along with state Congress chief Nana Patole and other top leaders had come to Nashik for a day-long meeting with Ahmednagar and Nashik units of the party in the run-up to the state assembly polls. “The party has started holding reviews of all the 288 seats and is conducting meetings with the local party units as part of the preparations for the assembly polls. So far, we have held review meetings in 100 seats. The remaining seats will be covered soon,” he added.Leader of opposition in the state assembly Vijay Wadettiwar said between January and June this year, about 22,000 women and over 1,400 children have gone missing in Maharashtra. “These women and children are yet to be traced. The figures prove how the law and order in the state has deteriorated,” he said, adding that several industries from the state have shifted their base to Gujarat and it is a failure of the govt.Patole later alleged that the Mahayuti govt is corrupt and the politicians from the ruling dispensation are not interested in the development of the state.
