Morning surprise

Upon returning from his morning walk, Dr. Sushil Ahire encountered an unexpected visitor—an uninvited leopard in his Ashoka Pride duplex, disrupting the tranquil community and altering the course of Ahire's day unexpectedly.

2/8

Guardian dog

Max, Dr. Ahire's faithful dog, transformed into a protector with loud barks, alerting the household to the leopard's presence. His vigilance highlighted the invaluable role of pets in unexpected situations.

3/8

Courageous response

Demonstrating unwavering courage, Ahire systematically checked his home, discovering the leopard calmly perched in the guest room. His brave actions set the stage for a controlled and successful resolution.

4/8

Quick thinking

Ahire's prompt decision to lock the guest room and notify authorities showcased quick thinking, preventing potential harm. The collaborative rescue effort involved society members and forest officials, ensuring a well-coordinated response.

5/8

Lucky escape

Fortune favored the household as the leopard avoided the main bedroom, where Ahire's wife slept. This fortunate turn averted a potentially dangerous scenario, emphasizing the critical role of timely interventions in crisis situations.

6/8

Successful rescue

The forest team's three-hour operation, involving tranquilization and careful handling, secured the safe rescue of the male leopard. The community's collective efforts culminated in the successful resolution of an unexpected wildlife encounter, ensuring the safety of both residents and the animal.

Another feline on the prowl

Another leopard, a female approximately four years old, ventured into the city in a separate incident. This time, the feline was spotted near GST Bhavan in the Cidco area around 7 am, initiating a series of events that would demand swift and cautious rescue efforts.

Challenges in rescue operations

Both rescue operations posed significant challenges. In Savatanagar, the female leopard had to be tranquillized and rescued from a narrow lane amidst a crowd of 1,500 to 2,000 people. Similarly, in Govindnagar, the forest team faced a three-and-a-half-hour operation to rescue the male leopard from the Ashoka Pride gated community housing society, where injuries were reported in both incidents.
