Ensure artisans benefit from Vishwakarma scheme: Pawar

Nashik: Union minister of state for health and family welfare Dr Bharati Pawar on Sunday said the administration should take all steps to ensure benefits of the newly-launched Pradhanmantri Vishwakarma Yojana reach all the beneficiaries in the district.The scheme was launched across the country on Sunday by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi through virtual media. To mark the occasion a programme was organised at Kalidas Kalamandir. MLAs, including Devyani Pharande and Seema Hiray, district collector Jalaj Sharma, NMC commissioner Ashok Karanjkar, Nashik ZP CEO Ashima Mittal, NHAI project director Bhausaheb Salunkhe and among other officials attended the programme. “The scheme is aimed at helping artisans who master in 18 different types of traditional business so that the next generation picks up the trade. The plan is being implemented for the empowerment of artisans in various types of traditional occupations. The elected representatives and administration should work hand-in-hand to ensure the artisans get a chance for their development,” Pawar said. While introducing the scheme, district collector Jalaj Sharma said the artisans will be given a toolkit worth Rs 15,000 each along with imparting basic training and providing interest-free loans so that they become self-employed.
