Centre allocates 3,744 kilolitres of kerosene for state, Nashik gets highest share among Maha districts

Nashik: Central govt has allocated a temporary quota of 3,744 kilolitres of kerosene to Maharashtra to ensure fuel availability for households that may face difficulties accessing LPG amid the prevailing geopolitical situation, Nashik collector Ayush Prasad said in a release issued on on Thursday.According to the release, each family will be provided three litres of kerosene to help tide over any potential LPG shortage. "Priority in distribution will be given to Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Priority Household (PHH) ration card holders. Having said that, families without ration cards will also be eligible to receive kerosene upon producing a domicile certificate issued by local authorities," it stated.Of the total quota, Nashik has been allotted 228 kilolitres of kerosene, highest among all the districts in the state, followed by Ahilyanagar (216 kilolitres), Pune rural (204 kilolitres), Jalgaon, Kolhapur and Nanded (156 kilolitres each). "Details regarding the distribution mechanism and the price at which kerosene will be sold will be announced shortly. Nineteen tankers have been allocated for transporting the fuel," the collector said.Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar has been allotted 144 kilolitres. Distribution will be carried out through wholesale and retail kerosene dealers registered with the respective district supply offices.Meanwhile, the district administration clarified that there was no shortage of LPG for domestic use. The release urged residents not to believe rumours about LPG scarcity, which have led to long queues outside LPG distribution centres."Oil marketing company officials are actively ensuring regular supply and timely delivery of LPG cylinders to consumers. There is no need for consumers to visit LPG distributors, as supplies are normal in the district," collector Prasad added.
