8am-10pm ban on pvt bus movement till end of May
Nashik: The city police have extended the ban on private luxury buses within city limits for another three months (till May 31) to prevent traffic congestion amid ongoing infrastructure works for the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela. The ban will remain in force from 8am to 10pm.According to a notification issued by deputy commissioner of police (traffic) Kirithika CM, all private bus pick‑up and drop‑off points across major hubs — including Dwarka, Mumbai Naka, CBS and Thakkar Bazaar — will remain out of bounds till such time. Police have directed operators to use only the Tapovan Citylink Bus Terminal to pick up and drop off passengers. The traffic police said the city was currently witnessing intensive infrastructure activity, including construction of four flyovers and widening, repair or construction work on 30 roads. "Allowing private buses to pass through locations like Dwarka Circle, Mumbai Naka, Thakkar Bazaar, Tractor House, Tigrinya Road and Kannamvar Bridge will worsen the congestion. Therefore, to ensure smooth and safe traffic flow and to avoid inconvenience to citizens, restrictions on private luxury buses and other vehicles will remain in force," police said. Police have also warned that strict action would be taken under the Motor Vehicles Act against operators found using unauthorised pick-up points.Meanwhile, residents of areas where vehicles have been diverted have demanded additional police deployment to manage the high traffic volume.
