NAGPUR: Live the poem first and then present it to the world so that it can live again, said famous poetess Manisha Atul on Saturday. She said the words while guiding the amateur poets in the programme titled ‘Navoditanchi kavyasumananjali’ organized by

Vidarbha

Sahitya Sangh.

A poet has no age and his poems are timeless. This was proved by 15 amateur poets who attended the event. They were guide by Atul and Raj Mehar. Atul and Mehar have different tastes in poetry and are masters of their own trade. They picked up top three poems each and made ‘constructive criticism’ of those to encourage the poets.

Atul said, “The poems should maintain the originality of the poet. Repetitive words should be ignored. The poem should be simple and lucid to reach everyone. A poet should be cruel enough to kill repetitive ideas constantly. When you present the poem forget about the rest of the world and just speak your heart out.”

She picked Ujwala Chakradeo’s ‘Kahani’, Vivek

Pophali

’s ‘Prashna kavita’ and a poem by Varsha Thote as three best poems and gave her remarks.

Mehar started with how a poem should be written. He emphasized on simplicity and ease of words. “A poet should never carry the burden of what others will say and how they will react while writing and presenting a poem,” he said. He selected

Vinaya

Pimpale’s ‘Anandi’, Shreya Pande’s ‘Shwas amcha’ and Anjali Khulkar’s ‘Bhuk’ as his best three.

The best six poets were gifted a compilation of poems by Vidarbha poets. Rest of them were given certificates of appreciation. Madhuri Wadibhasme and Dilip Mhaisalkar anchored the event.
