Some battles have to be wonwith guerrilla tactics: Kadu
Amravati: Former minister Bachchu Kadu defended merging his Prahar Janshakti Party with Shiv Sena (Shinde) to get nominated to the legislative council and hit back at critics saying that "some battles have to be won with guerrilla tactics rather than fighting head-on. I will not compromise on issues of farmers, labourers, and persons with disabilities".Addressing media at his residence at Kuralpurna, Kadu said, "Deputy CM Eknath Shinde has accepted all my demands, and Shiv Sena will extend full support for social work. People's work is more important to me than a MLC or ministerial post. The decision was not out of self-interest but due to the insistence of party workers and changed circumstances."After the defeat in assembly elections, instead of going into political oblivion, Kadu's decision to join Sena (Shinde), his opponents, especially the Sena (UBT), heavily criticized him. Responding to MP Sanjay Raut's remark "Has Kadu lost the ability to get elected?", Kadu in his characteristic style asserted that "though the flag has changed, the agenda remains the same".Commenting on the 2024 assembly election results, Kadu said, "Prahar had fielded 32 candidates, but none won. Don't social activists who build movements for people have the right to become public representatives? All colleagues who went to Guwahati got elected; only I was left behind. I admit I may have made some mistakes, but they were not so big that the movement should end because of them. I took this decision only to ensure the survival of party workers and to strengthen Prahar," Kadu claimed.Grand Welcome at KuralpurnaWhen Bachchu Kadu arrived at his native village Kuralpurna after joining Shiv Sena, the atmosphere was highly charged and emotional. Upon reaching the village, Kadu first visited the memorial of his parents. His wife Nayana Kadu welcomed him. Party workers burst firecrackers and raised slogans that reverberated in the area. Kadu appeared emotional seeing the crowd of supporters who still loved him despite the defeat. While interacting with workers, he explained the reality behind switching parties. "For 25 years, I considered only the people as my leader. But during elections, many Prahar workers shifted to BJP or NCP only because they were not sure of victory. This was a major tragedy. The reality is that since the people rejected me, I had to go to a leader. This entry is not out of compulsion, but a strategic decision taken to strengthen the workers. Prahar's organizational strength and Shiv Sena's ‘arrow' will now come together for public service," he expressed confidence. He urged supporters not to take the Opposition's criticism to heart and to start working with renewed vigor in the coming days.
