ND Group singers serve old hit numbers with elan

Nagpur: The breezy Tuesday evening was the perfect atmosphere to relive songs from Bollywood’s era of the 50s and 70s. Singers of ND Musical Group presented a plethora of melodies at Utkarsh Hall, Mor Hindi Bhavan, Sitabuldi.

Organized by Nanda Dongre, she started the programme on an auspicious note by rendering ‘Vakratunda mahakaya’. Next on stage was Nilesh Patil as he presented Mohammed Rafi's soulful number ‘Pukarta chala hu main’ followed by a duet performance of Sandhya Fuke and Ashok Barde on the hit song ‘Aankhon hi aankhon mein’.

Veena Chanekar stepped on stage among cheers of good luck from the audience and sang ‘Dil mein tujhe bitha ke’. In spite of a sore throat, Dongre went on to lend her voice to the tunes of ‘Tumhari nazar’ along with Barde.

Satish Alone brought the soul of the song ‘Kya hua tera vaada’ to the forefront with his melodious voice. The evergreen song ‘Raat suhani jaag rahi hai’ was rendered by the dynamic duo of Patil and Shweta. The tunes of ‘Tumhari nazar kyon khafa ho gayi’ reverberated in the hall as Barde and Sandhya Meshram presented the melody in sync.

The playlist included popular songs like ‘Karwate badal rahe saari raat’, ‘Dil ki nazar se’, ‘Jhilmil sitaron ka’, ‘Dil tadap tadap ke’, ‘Raat kali ek khwab mein aayi’, ‘Hum dono do premi’, ‘Tumko piya dil diya’, ‘Ae dil mujhe bata de’, ‘Jeevan ke har mod pe’, ‘Acha ji main haari chalo’, ‘Bahon mein chale aao’ and ‘Main zindagi ka saath’.

Neena Bagal, Alka Thakur, Urmila Borikar, Urmila Atkar, Aruna Chaudhary, Sharda Lanjewar, Seema Mule, Sanyoni, Apurva Masorkar, Mayuri Pitwa, Tushar Rangari, Shyam Thomne, Raj Gwalani, Jafer Bhai, Anchal Walde, Manish Kamlakar, Santosh, Rakesh, Arun, Nitin and Dhiraj were the singers who enthralled the audience.

Siddharth Dongre conceptualized the show while Rita Patil was the anchor.
