NAGPUR: The melody of old
Marathi songs
and abhangs continue to hold sway over music lovers as was witnessed at a programme titled ‘Gandh Marathi Maticha’, organized by
Swartarang Sangeet Academy
at Scientific Society Hall,
Laxmi Nagar
, on Monday.
The programme began with
Snehal Bidwai
nicely singing ‘Jethe jato tethe tu majha sangati’, an abhang of Sant
Tukaram
, that filled the air with devotion.
This was followed by ‘Bhogale je dukkha’ by Vaishali Aaglawe and ‘Apsara aali’, a recent song from Marathi movie ‘Natrang’, that enthralled the audience. ‘Airanichya deva tula’, sang by Neha Ghate, got cheers.
Vibhavari Shete presented the evergreen
Lata Mangeshkar song ‘Jeevanatali ghadi’. Shweta Mithari sang ‘Kevha tari pahate’ with aplomb.
Then it was the turn of Arya Warabhe to make the audience tap their feet by singing ‘Aggobai Dhaggobai’, a hit among children.
Classics like ‘Asa bebhan ha vara, nadila pur alela’, ‘Bugdi majhi sandli ga jata Satyarala ga bai Sataryala’, ‘Khel mandiyela valawanti’, ‘Malmali tarunya majhe’, ‘Dahi dudh loni’, ‘Fulale re kshan majhe fulale re’, ‘Radha hi bawri Harichi’, ‘Mauli mauli’ and ‘Ruperi valut madachya banat ye na’ were well received.
Anil Gulhane excelled in presenting ‘Manachya dhundit laharit yena’ and ‘Ya janmar ya janmawar shatada prem karave’.
Some other wonderful songs at the programme included ‘He chincheche zad dise maj chinar vrukshapari’, ‘Shodhu me kuthe kashi tula priya’, ‘Tarun aahe ratra ajuni’ and ‘Vara gai gane’.
It was a treat to listen Balachandra Welankiwar melodiously singing ‘Omkar Swarupa sadguru Samartha’. ‘Utha rashtraveer ho’, sang by Rugved Nayse, created a feeling of patriotism.
‘Hrudayi jaga tu anuraga’ by Shreyas Naik made everyone sing along with him.
Stage arrangement and LED screen display was impressive.
Anchor Dinesh Masodkar kept the audience engaged by narrating anecdotes behind songs and the films from which they were taken.
