19-year-old serial robber arrested in Ganga Jamuna
Nagpur: The Lakadganj police on Tuesday arrested a 19-year-old serial robber involved in multiple incidents of looting and assaults in the city's notorious Ganga Jamuna area. The rising criminal activities in the area led to the crackdown by the cops.Acting on the directives of CP Ravinder Singal and DCP Rahul Madane (zone 3), a team led by senior police inspector Mukund Kawade and the detection squad conducted intensive patrolling in the area. The operation led to the arrest of Abdul Arman, resident of Jafar Nagar, a serial robber. On Monday, two accused, now identified as part of the same gang, waylaid a complainant on the route from Azamshah Chowk to Masurkar Chowk. The two allegedly threatened the victim with a knife and robbed him of cash. An FIR was registered at Lakadganj police station against the unknown accused. Cops formed a special team, which utilised local intelligence to crack the case within 24 hours and arrest Arman. The police have initiated stringent action against the accused, who is believed to be a serial offender. Interrogation is underway to uncover Arman's links with other criminals and solve previous unreported cases.Senior police inspector Kawade said, "We have been conducting regular patrolling, nakabandi, and special search operations in the Ganga Jamuna area and nearby pockets to control incidents of looting. This arrest will help in further dismantling the network."Ganga Jamuna, infamous as a red-light area, has for years witnessed a surge in crimes like mobile phone snatching, cash robberies, and assaults. Residents have repeatedly complained about the deteriorating law and order, with criminal elements operating brazenly in the area and adjacent localities. This timely crackdown has brought relief to locals who had been at the receiving end of unchecked criminal activities in one of Nagpur's most sensitive zones. With focused policing and intelligence-led operations, police now aim to transform the narrative of Ganga Jamuna from a crime hotspot to a secured area.
