16-Year-Old Among Three Killed in Separate Accidents on New Year's Eve

Nagpur: A 16-year-old was among three killed, and some injured, in separate incidents on New Year's Eve on Tuesday. Kartik Marode, an Standard XI, was riding without a helmet with his friend, Pranay Dolas, as pillion. His bike rammed into an oncoming autorickshaw driver in front of Itwari railway station.Dolas and Marode were heading to purchase sweets at Sunil Hotel Chowk for a party at home. They were heading towards Dahi Bazaar Puliya from Bagde Plot when the accident took place. While Marode was declared dead, Dolas is still recuperating with injuries at Mayo Hospital. The autorickshaw driver was later arrested by Shanti Nagar police station.In another incident, a civil contractor, identified as Sanjay Parashar, was killed while a labourer, Rajesh Lanjewar, was injured after a light load carrier vehicle driver, under the influence of liquor, dashed into them near Khasala Phata. This incident also took place on Tuesday. The victims were returning home on foot. The driver of the light carrier vehicle was later arrested by Kapil Nagar police station.In the third incident, 49-year-old Nimesh Arya was killed in a hit-and-run incident on the service road of Wardha-Nagpur highway on Tuesday. Arya was heading home on his scooter when an unidentified vehicle fled the scene after hitting Arya's scooter. A case was registered at Beltarodi police station against the unidentified vehicle driver.
