Yaduveer inaugurates Nalwadi Krishnaraja’s Jayanti in Mysuru
Mysuru: Emphasising the values of harmony and selfless service, Mysuru MP, Yaduveer Wadiyar on Thursday said that the life and legacy of Mysuru’s maharaja Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar continue to serve as an inspiration for society.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Rajarshi Shri Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Jayanti celebrations organised by the department of Kannada and Culture, district administration, MCC, and the Jayanti committee at Karnataka Kalamandira.
The MP said that mutual respect, social harmony and a spirit of service are essential for building a progressive society, irrespective of religion or personal beliefs. He noted that the department of Kannada and Culture has been celebrating the maharaja’s jayanti for the past decade and stressed the need to take the maharaja's achievements to a wider audience. Karnataka's reputation as a progressive state, he said, is rooted in the visionary leadership of great rulers and administrators, with the maharaja occupying a special place among them. Building a developed and inclusive Karnataka would be the greatest tribute to his legacy.
Retired principal and author Siddaswamy described the maharaja as the brightest star among many rulers, commissioners and dewans who served the Mysore kingdom.
JD(S) MLC CN Manjegowda praised the maharaja's commitment to public welfare and women's empowerment. He recalled that the ruler even sold his personal jewellery to support the construction of KRS dam during financial difficulties. Deputy commissioner Lakshmikanth Reddy G and Kannada and culture department director BS Manjunath Swamy were also present.
