Patriotic spirit on display at schools

Mysuru: Deepa School Roopanagara on Tuesday celebrated Independence Day with patriotic spirit and zeal. The celebrations started with the hoisting of the national flag by the president of Deepa Education and Service Trust, Ramappa M. They continued with the march-past led by Sinchana, the president of the students’ council. Vice-president of the trust, Sadashiva Poojar, secretary Sundar, director Balakrishna and the residents of Roopanagar were present on the occasion. As part of the celebrations, various cultural programmes by teachers and students were held. A drama highlighting the efforts and sacrifices made by soldiers was also staged. The academic achievers of 2022-23, in both SSLC and second PUC exams, were honoured.The principal of Deepa PU College, Pranita Yermal, the headmistresses of Deepa High School and Deepa Primary School, Geetha H, and Shilpa Jagadeesh, teaching and non-teaching staff members, students and their parents were present.‘Nation first, always first’Independence Day was celebrated at the Seshadripuram Independent PU College here under the theme ‘Nation first, always first’. AC Lakshmana, IFS and retired secretary of the state forest department, was the chief guest. In his speech, he emphasised the fact that the securing independence was the resultant of years of struggle and sacrifice of many freedom fighters. Citing examples from Ramayana, which gave Indians the quality of non-violence, he enlightened young minds on their responsibilities in independent India.
