Mandya ZP CEO launches Fit India Swachhata Ride campaign
Mandya: Emphasising the importance of physical and mental well-being, Mandya ZP CEO KR Nandini on Sunday said that a strong and healthy society can be built only when citizens maintain both physical fitness and mental strength.
She urged people to dedicate at least 20 minutes every day to exercise, sports or other physical activities as part of their daily routine. She was speaking after inaugurating the district-level 'Sundays on Cycle' and 'Swachhata Ride' campaigns at the ZP premises.
The programmes were organised under the Fit India Movement in observance of World Bicycle Day 2026. Addressing the gathering, Nandini said the awareness rally was conducted with the message, “Let food be our medicine and let us keep our bodies fit,” with the objective of promoting a healthier lifestyle among citizens. She noted that cycling is not only beneficial for personal health but also contributes to environmental conservation by reducing vehicular traffic and pollution.
She highlighted that increasing mental stress and lack of physical activity have become major causes of health problems in modern society. She further stated that the programme was designed to promote cleanliness and hygiene alongside health awareness, encouraging citizens to adopt healthy habits while contributing to a cleaner environment.
ZP deputy secretary Shivalingaiah, agriculture department joint director VS Ashok, horticulture department joint director Roopa, youth services and sports department officer Manjushree, district AYUSH medical officer Dr Pushpa were also present.
