Madhu Bangarappa says cabinet expansion decision rests with Cong high command
Senior Congress functionary and former minister Madhu Bangarappa stated on Tuesday that any decision regarding the expansion of the state cabinet rests entirely within the purview of the party’s high command.
Speaking to reporters in Shivamogga, Madhu addressed queries regarding growing demands for cabinet positions among party leaders. He noted that it is natural for functionaries within the party to have aspirations. However, the final decision will be made by the Congress high command, and everyone must abide by it. He added that they are confident that appropriate measures will be taken following the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
Responding to criticism regarding the absence of a full-time minister solely dedicated to the education department, Bangarappa clarified that chief minister has taken direct charge of the portfolio and is closely monitoring its operations. He reassured the public that schools and colleges have commenced classes on schedule. While there might have been slight confusion initially due to some administrative modifications, the department’s operations are continuing smoothly without any hindrances.
He also emphasised that the Karnataka Public Schools project is a flagship initiative of the Congress govt and will not be halted under any circumstances. He reiterated the govt’s goal to establish 1,000 Karnataka Public Schools across the state, adding that progress will continue rapidly in Shivamogga and other regions with necessary govt intervention.
Furthermore, the minister expressed satisfaction over the recently announced Common Entrance Test results, noting that the stellar performance of state board students reflects the rising quality of education in Karnataka.
He expressed confidence that Congress holds the required numbers and support to ensure the victory of all its five candidates in the council polls.
