Loan mela for SHGs conducted

Mysuru: Union Bank of India, Periyapatna branch, conducted a self-help group (SHG) loan mela at Kogilavadi village of Periyapatna taluk on Tuesday. Around 100 women members of different SHG groups attended the mela. These SHG group members are engaged in agriculture and agriculture-allied activities, and running the groups for more than 2-3 years. On the occasion of this loan mela, Union Bank of India, Periyapatna branch, has sanctioned fresh loans to 5 SHGs, and handed over the sanctioning letters to the groups during the programme. Rakshit Kumar, bank agriculture field officer, explained about the products offered by the bank, for the development and empowerment of women in rural areas. Mahadeva, managing director of MNK Foundation, addressed the gathering and thanked Union Bank of India for organising the camp, and SHG members for attending the programme.Union Bank of India officials felicitated 3 SHG groups—Shree Kodiligeshwara Mathru Mahila Swasahaya Sangha of Kogilavadi village, Duggulamma Mathru Mahila Swasahaya Sangha of Hitnehebbagilu village and Basaveshwara Mathru Mahila Swasahaya Sangha of Chowthi village—for their outstanding achievement in successfully achieving group credit corpus of Rs 10 lakh. tnn
