MYSURU: During Covid second wave, 12 cases of multisystem inflammatory syndrome (

) among children were reported at the state-run Cheluvamba Hospital. While one child succumbed to the infection, others were treated successfully.

Dr Nanjaraj CP, dean and director of the Mysuru Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Institute, said that treatment for MIS-C is available in the hospital.

In the neighbouring Chamarajanagar district, where many children were infected in the second wave, no such complications were reported, said DHO Dr MR Ravi.

Meanwhile, four persons were found infected with the

Delta Plus

variant in Mysuru district. Deputy commissioner Bagadi Gautham informed that of the four patients, two were male and two female. All four patients have recovered. The first case of Delta Plus variant, a variant that has been a cause of concern in the country, was first reported in the district on Tuesday. The youth tested positive on June 2. He was asymptomatic. According to the authorities, the contact of all the patients are being traced and isolated. Genome sequencing has been done at Bengaluru. Meanwhile, positivity rate in the district came down to 8.5% on Wednesday.
