Hassan gears up for 2027 census with 4,271 blocks

Hassan: The district administration has completed key preparations for the census, including administrative-level training and human resource deployment. A total of 4,271 census blocks have been created across the district for the exercise.As part of the preliminary arrangements, 26 officers have been appointed at the district level.District-level officers, content managers and technical assistants have undergone special training programmes, deputy commissioner KS Latha Kumari said."From Feb 24 to 27, master trainers were trained at the Administrative Training Institute in Mysuru. Subsequently, training for 78 field trainers at the district level was successfully conducted in two phases from March 16 to 20," she explained.The identification of census blocks in both rural and urban areas has been completed, with 4,271 census blocks created. For the exercise, 3,969 enumerators and 734 supervisors have been appointed, she added.As special focus areas, Basavanahalli in Sakleshpur taluk and Kanchamaranahalli in Hassan taluk have been identified for special deployment. In addition, the district has 43 Sample Registration System (SRS) villages and 105 slum-like blocks, which are also receiving special attention, she noted.Stating that the census is a matter of national pride and provides crucial data for the country's development, she urged citizens to voluntarily participate and cooperate with the govt.Explaining the self-enumeration process, she said the Union ministry of home affairs plans to conduct the 2027 census in two phases. During the first phase — the house listing and housing census — self-enumeration will be available for the first 15 days.Any member of a household can complete self-enumeration in 15 to 20 minutes by providing household details. A self-enumeration ID can be obtained via mobile phone or email. When enumerators visit the house, this ID must be shared for verification and final submission of the data. The process is simple, and everyone should participate, she appealed.
